Is PG Planning His Escape??

During his opening address at the recent AGM of Calvary Church , Senior Pastor Prince Guneratnam (PG) shared on his desire to go into full-time evangelism.

He claimed that since his bible school days in the Bible College of Malaysia (BCM), his desire had always been to become an evangelist. He expressed his hope that God will give him “some years to go into full-time evangelistic work”. This is the clearest hint yet, of things to come!

To be fair, PG’s revelation of his desire is not totally new. He has said it before many years ago. Those were the days when Calvary Church was the richest and fastest-growing church in Malaysia. Despite his talk of going into full-time evangelism then, he did not leave.

With high pay-checks for him and his wife and generous self-granted perks like free education for both his children in the United States, business class travels, exclusive gym club membership and the like, he would be mad to give it all up, right?

Besides, there is this vision from God to build a grand 5,000-seating Church, remember? Who else will be able to accomplish this vision for God? He had to stay.

After all, the poor and the lost will always be there and besides, there’s Pastor Ah Chong, Pastor Aru and the many other graduates from BCM every year! Yes, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are many also!

Coming back to PG’s calling, to prove the seriousness of his desire to eventually go into full-time evangelism, he even set up Calvary International Ministry (CIM) to be the vehicle to fund his evangelistic ministry.

Of course, as things turned out, it was discovered several years later that he was, with the assistance of the Church Mission Director, happily transferring Church funds and Missions offerings into CIM’s Bank account, without the knowledge of the Members, of course. This modus operandi is quite similar to that of his good buddy in Singapore, Pastor Kong Hee.

If not for the exposure by the TTG group, the pilferage would have continued to this day. If not for the efforts of these concerned members, the pilfered funds would not have been recovered and PG may very well end up like Pastor Kong Hee. PG must be quietly thanking God for the TTG group!

Today, the situation in Calvary Church is totally different. With all the cash gone into the building of the wasteful Calvary Convention Centre, Bukit Jalil (CCC) and with the offerings not coming in as much as what PG had wished for, the Church is plunging swiftly into massive debts.

Once the entire RM43 million Bank loan for the construction of the CCC is fully drawn down, the interest alone (assuming only an interest rate of 6% per annum) will come up to RM2.58 million per year or RM215,000 per month. The principal loan repayment over 10 years amounts to RM4.3 million per year or RM358,000 per month.

To raise a surplus cash amount (after church expenses) of RM6.88 million a year or RM573,000 a month to service the banks is no laughing matter. And this is excluding the costs of maintaining the mammoth building and assuming that no further borrowings is required, which is highly unlikely and assuming the interest rate does not go up. Calvary Church certainly appears to be heading for a financial catastrophe. In a scenario like this, PG will be mad to stay on, right?

PG may have declared that he has been called to build the CCC but to be fair, he has never declared that he will stay to clear the debts or sort out the mess that he has created.

How can he stay? He has been called to be an evangelist, remember?  Jesus is coming soon, don’t you know? And there are so many poor lost souls out there to be saved and somebody’s got to do it!

PG Continues to Hoodwink the World

This year’s World Assemblies of God Fellowship Conference was held in Chennai, India, recently. Pastor Prince Guneratnam (PG) was one of the conference speakers. Before preaching his sermon at one of the services, he gave the audience a video presentation of the Calvary Convention Centre (CCC) and shared his vision of the CCC with the crowd. Some of the comments he made were as follows:

1. The favour of God has been on Calvary Church…..I’m experiencing growth.

(Comment: Presumably he meant the church is experiencing growth but everyone in Calvary Church and many in the Christian community in Malaysia know that Calvary is not growing. The attendance has dropped much from the peak of more than 3,000 to less than 2,000 now since the church crisis started. Their Ampang satellite church has closed down since early this year and attendance at the main Damansara church continue to drop, so much so that they have resorted to closing the rear portion of the sanctuary and spacing out the pews.)

2. I’m seeing God do some very marvelous things in Malaysia.

(Comment: This is admittedly true. Other than Calvary Church, God is certainly moving among the churches in this land. Many are experiencing tremendous growth both numerically and spiritually.)

3. God has confirmed through prophesies and as visitors come, they have confirmed those prophesies.

(Comment: He failed to mention that these prophesies regarding Calvary were given some 15 to 20 years ago and they were in respect of another site in Sri Hartamas which never materialized. PG’s vision and those prophesies came to naught.)

4. They (presumably he meant invited preachers) have described Calvary Church as a fountain-head church.

(Comment: It was Rev Dick Eastman who said this about Calvary about 20 years ago. Back then, Calvary indeed was a growing church. Back then, PG was still a reasonably good shepherd who had not succumbed to pride, ambition and living a lavish lifestyle. Back then, he wasn’t a Datuk or a Tan Sri. Today, he is not the same person and today he cannot continue to declare or imply that Calvary is a fountain-head church as it is untruthful.)

5. To look for a piece of land between 4 to 5 acres in the city was almost an impossible task but when we put our faith and trust in God, God is able to do the impossible.

(Comment: PG made the above statements to imply that the hand of God was on the search for the CCC land. In so doing, he gave the impression that the CCC land is in the city of Kuala Lumpur, which is obviously untrue. The CCC land in Bukit Jalil may be on the fringe of the Federal Territory but it is certainly not in the city of Kuala Lumpur.)

6. God is faithful and men are liars.

(Comment: This is about the most honest statement that he has made and it’s ironical that he said this after telling half-truths and lies.)

The following biodata on PG was extracted from the conference website : World Assemblies  of God Celebrations

Prince Guneratnam

Rev.Tan Sri Datuk (Dr) Prince Guneratnam, Founder & President of Calvary International Ministries, is recognized as an outstanding Christian leader worldwide. Since 1966 he has been in the ministry and has served as the senior pastor of Calvary Church in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is the vice chairman of WAGF, the secretary of the Pentecostal World Fellowship and general superintendent - emeritus of the Assemblies of God, Malaysia.

In spite of Calvary International Ministries (CIM), having been de-registered by NECF, PG continues to promote CIM internationally. When he spoke at a Christian conference in Singapore last year, he was still introduced as the CIM Founder and President. Albeit CIM’s de-registration in Malaysia, it still remains alive and kicking outside the country, probably as an unregistered entity.

Click here to read : CIM to be de-registered

Although CIM’s bank accounts in Malaysia have been closed as a result of the de-registration, its bank accounts in the USA and Singapore probably remains active. The offshore banks would not know of its legal status unless they are informed.

It is therefore, not inconceivable, that his love offerings from his international preaching engagements continue to be banked into CIM’s offshore accounts. The obvious danger is that contributions to the CCC Building fund from unsuspecting overseas churches and donors may be channeled to CIM as CIM carries the “Calvary” name.

Although PG has always represented and promoted CIM in all his introduction biodata in conferences, he has never declared in printed and electronic media like the above that CIM is his personal ministry. Who will then know that CIM has no linkage whatsoever to Calvary Church? Besides carrying the “Calvary” name, remember it also shares the same address as Calvary Church.

Todate, other than Pastor Robert Lim’s church and Pastor Cho-Yonggi’s church and 1 or 2 small churches, no other churches or Christian organizations outside Malaysia have made any contribution towards the CCC Building Fund in spite of Calvary Church, having previously, supported countless other churches worldwide in their building programmes and in spite of PG constantly sharing his vision and burden wherever he preaches. This fact has always puzzled the church members.

The History Of Calvary Church, Kuala Lumpur, Revisited

We reproduce below a Comment / Testimony posted by a pioneer member of Calvary Church, since the days of Calvary Church's humble beginnings in Jalan Sayor. It is good to remember our roots and to thank God for the way He led the pioneer Pastors of Calvary Church and to recognise the work of those Pastors who guided, encouraged and loved the members of the Church by living a godly example to the Church members back then.

Jalan Sayor migrant said...

History

Guynes was one of our pastors when we were in Jalan Sayor. He did not play a part in the building of CC DH (Calvary Church Damansara Heights).

Pastor Jones and Assistant Pastor Fred Abeysekera (Singaporean) were our pastors in Jalan Sayor who spearheaded CC at DH (Calvary Church at Damansara Heights). We were the English speaking congregation sharing First Assembly in Jalan Sayor.

They caught the vision to purchase DH (Damansara Heights) land at RM2.70 per sq foot, plans were drawn and we built our present church by stages. They shared their vision with us and assured us since God gave the vision, He (God) will supply the money.

This He did - Americans like Gene Martin, Katherine Kuffman foundation and various other people helped to raise funds. Our congregation then was 60-70 and only about 20 were working with limited income. We raised funds by selling cookies, kueh, sew clothes, wash cars - meagre sums but we were all happily doing what we could to contribute.

Mind you there were no faith promise, missions offering, pledges etc. We did what we could - Pastor Jones and family moved in to the back of CC DH (where the Visitor's lounge is) so that he can give his housing allowance for renting of a bungalow to the church offering.

WE MOVED IN DEBT FREE - this made a very strong impression on me - when God desires us to build any churches for His glory, He gives vision to one or two or three - they share, the rest will catch the vision. He provides the funds through others, through us and multiplies. There was no pressure - we sacrificed what we could - God did the rest.

Pastor Jones GAVE what others from abroad gave to Calvary Church for CC building fund.

What others give to PG for CCC from abroad, does he give All back to CCC or his personal account?

PG and PG2 were pastoring in the backwaters of Klang - sure, he did not contribute 1 single cent.

In fact when we employed them as pastors, they came in to a well established church because all of us love the Lord - we also loved the Guneratnams and even gave them an interest free loan to buy their BANDARAYA house and pay their instalments for them as housing allowance.

YET WHAT DID THEY DO? They axed some of the Jalan Sayor crowd. They bite the hand of those who feed them!!

MANY OF US FROM JALAN SAYOR can attest that this is what we went through.

Am sharing this with you because when you are not part and parcel of those who helped to raise funds for CC DH, you will have no qualms even to sell it to ensure CCC comes into being - HJK mentioned this during an EGM.

Wonder whether you guys are ever concerned that in KL it is extremely difficult to get a church land, let alone at DH?

It is where we begun, so we should hold tight to it and not chase after CCC which is really out of the way for many, especially the older ones.

For BOD - godliness with contentment is great gain - do not chase after the wind!!!

PG Chickens Out Again

Court Mediation fails

After agreeing to the Plaintiffs’ proposal for a Court Mediation, Senior Pastor Prince Guneratnam (PG) failed to turn up for the much anticipated face-to-face negotiations. Instead, he sent Pastor Steven and deacon David Peters to represent him.

The above information was obtained from one of the 60-odd class action plaintiffs who also informed CT that out of the 6 deacons collectively named as the 2nd Defendants, only Patrick Wong, Edward Rajasingam and Philip Tan showed up.

According to the source, the main 7 Plaintiffs went with only one simple proposal and that is the formation of an independent committee to review and revise the Church Constitution for the future good of Calvary Church. And even that was rejected.

The sincerity of PG and his deacons in agreeing to the Plaintiffs’ proposal to settle the matter out of court really comes into question.

CT is unable to provide further details at this time as according to the source, the 7 main Plaintiffs are unsure if they could divulge the full details of what transpired during the Court Mediation.

The matter will now be set for hearing in chambers on 12 April 2011.

PG Changes Lawyers

Zul Rafique & Partners replaces KK Wong

In a baffling move, Senior Pastor Prince Guneratnam (PG) recently applied to court to change the lawyer defending the Board of Deacons and him in the ongoing class action legal suit brought against them by a group of some 60-odd concerned Calvary Church members.

For reasons not known, he has replaced KK Wong with Zul Rafique & Partners. Zul Rafique & Partners was one of the legal firms which a few of the Plaintiffs had consulted before the commencement of the present legal suit. However, the Plaintiffs subsequently did not engage this legal firm and opted instead to engage a Christian legal firm.

KK Wong, who is a well-known Christian lawyer had, in October 2010 suggested that the Plaintiffs put in a proposal to the Defendants for an out-of-court settlement, in the interest of the Christian community. The Plantiffs agreed to the suggestion and promptly submitted their proposal to KK Wong. However, PG rejected the Plaintiffs’ proposal outright without even bothering to make a counter-proposal.

Shortly after, at the case management on 6 January 2011, the Court was informed that Zul Rafique & Partners has now taken over the defence from KK Wong.

Despite the slap in the face, the Plaintiffs pursued the route for an amicable resolution
to the ongoing crisis and made a new proposal for a Court-assisted Mediation, which is a newly adopted process in the Malaysian legal system, designed to encourage disputes among families and communities to be resolved amicably out-of-court.

The Court Mediation is now set to take place on 24 March 2011. In the event the Mediation process fails, the case will be heard on 12 April 2011.

The Church leaders have not, until today, updated the members on the change of lawyers or the developments leading to the change. They have only merely announced the Court Mediation and Hearing dates. That’s transparency, Calvary Church KL-style.

PG says No to Christian Arbitration

NECF efforts at mediation fails

Since December 2009, the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship of Malaysia (NECF) had quietly worked on a mediation effort to try to resolve the ongoing legal suit involving Pastor Prince Guneratnam (PG) and his Board of Deacons and a group of 7 Concerned Calvary Church members.

The 7 plaintiffs, representing a class of Concerned Members, had filed an Originating Summons to the High Court seeking to declare the 2009 Church AGM null and void and for the 7 rejected Resolutions to be tabled. (Please refer to the older posts in this blog for the full story and details of the rejected resolutions)

NECF was aware that an earlier attempt at mediation initiated in October 2009 by a prominent Calvarite and the Assemblies of God General Superintendent (AOG-GS) had failed. That meeting was called off when PG told the AOG-GS just two days before the scheduled meeting that “the date was not convenient”. The time, date, place and terms of reference had all been agreed at least 7 to 10 days before. For reasons best known to himself, PG got cold feet. The plaintiffs were disappointed because they had accepted the Terms of Reference and were all ready for mediation.

After the failure of the above mediation effort by the two individuals, NECF waiting patiently for the Assemblies of God Malaysia (AG) to take action to resolve the conflict which has set the Christian community in Malaysia abuzz. However, to the disappointment of NECF and the Christian community at large, AG failed or refused to intervene, probably in fear of their mentor who is now a Tan Sri.

To their credit, NECF then took it upon themselves to attempt to mediate between the two parties. They contacted one of the Plaintiffs sometime in December 2009 to explore the possibility of resolving the crisis through mediation or Christian arbitration. The Plaintiffs readily agreed to mediation but however, PG proved to be very elusive and despite a number of attempts by NECF, PG just refused to provide any dates to meet.

In spite of this discouraging setback, NECF persevered and proposed Christian arbitration in keeping with the teachings of 1 Corinthians 6. They proposed that the Plaintiffs take the matter out from the secular court and put the matter before a panel of Christian senior lawyers and ex-judges. The Plaintiffs readily agreed to the proposal. NECF then met PG and conveyed the proposal.

However, on 25 May 2010, the Plaintiffs were told by NECF that Steven Kum had telephoned them the day before to convey PG’s reply. PG refused mediation and arbitration. This was most shocking news. Yet NECF was not willing to give up. They wanted to meet with PG again to try to persuade him that Christian arbitration would be the right and proper way to resolve the crisis. The Plaintiffs waited with much hope but in September 2010, the Plaintiffs were finally told that NECF had given up on trying to persuade PG to go for Christian arbitration. As far as NECF was concerned, PG had officially refused mediation and Christian arbitration.

NECF, being just a fellowship of churches and Christian organistions, has no authority over Calvary Church or PG but for the sake of the Kingdom, let us hope that they will rely on their spiritual authority as the umbrella body for nearly all the evangelical churches in Malaysia to help bring the Calvary Church crisis to a close.

CCC: God’s Vision or PG’s Vision?

The latest issue of Calvary Connect carried an interview with Pastor Prince Guneratnam (PG). On the challenges faced by the Calvary Convention Centre (CCC) project he said:

“Our building project is a faith project. It is for the advancement of the Kingdom of
God. It is a huge project. It is not surprising nor is it unique that we should face
many challenges.

In my knowledge, all building projects encounter challenges, especially church
building projects because we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against
the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). There are some
churches that have gone through much more serious problems than what we are
facing.

Plans can change but vision does not change.”

What a sweeping and completely untrue statement! He is blaming the difficulties the project is facing on the devil. He is also insinuating that the failure of the CCC project is somehow related to the crisis in the church which was caused by the devil. This thought has been so implanted in his staff’s minds that some of them have, in fact, been telling the members that the TTG are evil.

To set the record straight, the CCC project was not one of the TTG issues. TTG was concerned about the lack of truth, transparency and governance in Calvary Church. Without doubt, these shortcomings are also in the CCC project but the TTG did not fight against the project. None of the resolutions put in by the concerned members at the previous AGM and EGM relate to the CCC project.

Today, the lack of transparency and accountability had gone from bad to worse. The members are not told anything intelligent but are given mere snippets of information which require piecing together like a jig-saw puzzle which remains incomplete and still a puzzle to all.

Coming to PG’s statement…..

“Our building project is a faith project…”

If indeed, the CCC is a faith project :

Why does PG need to resort to constantly preach the prosperity gospel and reminding the members that they must give in order to receive blessings?

Why does he need to persistently persuade the members to fulfill their building and faith promise pledges?

Why does he need to mortgage the church properties to the bank to raise some money to fund the project?

Why does he need to tell the members that he is prepared to sell some prime church properties if the project runs short of funds?

Why does he need to cajole and almost literally forced the leaders and members to sell paper bricks, dinner tables, funfair tickets and golf games to the outside world to raise money?

In so doing what he has done is, he has given the world the impression that our God is a poor God and He is unable to raise the funds from within the Christian community to build His own church building.

But our God is a rich God! If the CCC is His vision, surely He will open the windows of heaven and pour out His blessings and the CCC will be completed, without a single cent of borrowing. And no devil or powers of this dark world or the spiritual forces of evil can stop it! And certainly, not the TTG….

“In my knowledge, all building projects encounter challenges…”

PG’s knowledge is obviously very limited. Not all churches face such challenges like the ones faced by Calvary Church. There may be differences of opinion and a few may even leave the church but many big church projects were completed without such crisis, if it is of the Lord. Notable examples are the Metro Tabernacle, Glad Tidings PJ, PJ EFC, SIB KL, DUMC and Grace PJ. In fact, one of the churches even told the members not to give anymore to the building fund because they have collected enough and were encouraged to help out other churches. This is what happens when a church walks in the will of God and carries out His vision according to His ways.

It is so convenient for PG to blame the devil. He is giving the devil too much credit. If the failure of the CCC is the work of the devil, then the devil must have made PG appoint a freemason as the architect and an almost bankrupt company as the main contractor. These are the two main causes for the difficulties and challenges besetting the CCC. However, the fundamental reason could likely be that CCC was not God’s vision but PG’s vision.

"Plans can change but vision does not change.”

It is surprising that PG could make such a statement when the CCC is, in fact, his third edition of his vision. Maybe his age has affected his memory, after all, he has gone way past his retirement age.

Vision No. 1 was the Sri Hartamas land (near the new Agong palace) back in the late 80s. Those old enough would have remembered being shown a video clip with PG walking the length and breath of that piece of land and claiming it because God had given him a vision of the new church on that land. However, just before the signing of the Sale and Purchase agreement, the land was sold to someone else. The vision he so proudly proclaimed vaporised into thin air just as quickly as it came and it was quietly forgotten. Then arose a fresh vision for the present Damansara Heights site.

Vision No. 2 was to buy up the surrounding bungalows, tear down the existing sanctuary and build a new church on the Damansara Heights site. He claimed this was a new vision from God. The church bought up 7 or 8 bungalows but failed to buy up all the units in the island. Still, he felt the church could go ahead with what they had. Some preliminary planning approvals were given by the authorities and things looked really good. A lot of time, effort and money were spent. His vision of a 5,000 seat church was incorporated into the preliminary design and drawings presented to the congregation. Again he could not clear the final hurdle and the project was abandoned.

Vision No. 3 is the current CCC project. He originally wanted a piece of land in KL and not Selangor. Finding none, he settled on Bukit Jalil. The CCC project has been shrouded in lies and deception from the start. For the full story, check out the nine previous postings under “Calvary Convention Centre”.

He would not be able to finish the grand CCC monument that he initially planned. The cost has escalated to more than RM250 million from the original quote of RM50 million despite scaling down on the original specifications.

With what the church has in the coffers and a secured bank loan of RM35 million, he can only put up the main structure and the roof to stop the site from further deterioration and corrosion. He would need to sell church properties worth RM40 million or borrow another RM40 million and collect more building offerings to make part of the main auditorium usable.

Today, he hopes to complete enough of the structure to have Sunday services in the CCC. He has deferred the construction of the rest of the planned development like the classrooms, offices, recreational halls, subsidiary chapels etc.

To him, this would be proof that it is God’s vision. This is not necessarily the case. Man’s pride and self-will can accomplish much but “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it.”

Can it be ready for his grand show at the Pentecostal World Conference in 2013 planned to be held at the CCC? Possibly, if undiscerning church members and visitors continue to be ignorant and make sacrificial giving to the church.

Assuming the partial completion of the auditorium is achieved and is useable, what looms ahead is even more daunting and frightening. How will the church be able to service and pay off the RM35 to 75 million loan? The offerings alone will hardly be sufficient to maintain the facility. The danger of the bank foreclosing on the property eventually is real. But by then, PG will probably be enjoying his retirement and his successor (God bless him whoever he is) will need a giant Panadol. This could possibly be the closing chapter in Calvary Church’s history.

PG has misunderstood Dick Eastman’s word of prophecy that Calvary Church is a fountain-head church. A fountain head church is not necessarily an expensive and extravagant church building. Jesus is not interested in buildings. He is interested in people. The obscene amount of money being spent on the building cannot flow out of the church to touch the lives of people. A fountain head church is one from which the love of Jesus flows to touch and bless an ever widening spread of people. Instead of being locked up in brick and mortar, the money could have flowed out of the church to bless the needy, the widows and the orphans and of course to spread the Gospel.

Compared to other churches, how has Calvary Church let the love of Jesus flow to others? All the church can boast of is an under-funded street ministry, the Sunshine Home providing only day care for a few elderly and one supported full-time missionary. The white elephant Calvaryland project which cost the church some RM8 to 10 million was just another ego trip which could never be financially justified. Another failed vision feather in his cap.

Look at the good works of other churches much smaller than Calvary Church; drug rehabilitation centres, dialysis centres, orphanages, properly funded street feeding programs, other social projects and regular mission trips to the poor and underdeveloped communities in the surrounding countries like Cambodia, Vietnam etc.

A big portion of Calvary Church’s missions giving are directed internally to the “extended ministries” and also used to pay many of the church staff salaries and are not really given away. Whatever little is given away, much publicity is provided so that the congregation will feel good.

Perhaps, it is fair to say that PG started well and that Calvary Church was once a fountain-head church. But sadly, today, the fountain head is now clogged up with dirt and has stopped flowing. Unless, serious efforts are made by the new Board of Deacons to clear the dirt without fear of man, Calvary Church will shriveled up in no time.

A God-given vision shall be fulfilled. It cannot fail. If it fails to be fulfilled, it is because of man, not God. God’s vision can only be accomplished if it is carried out according to His will.

So is the CCC a vision from God or PG’s own personal vision?

Let the Spirit give you the discernment!

The Big Question ?

Many Calvarites will remember the infamous theatrical alabaster jar-breaking act of Senior Pastor Prince (PG) a few years ago on Easter Sunday at Stadium Putra.

That Sunday was the launch of a major fund-raising campaign for the Calvary Convention Centre (CCC) project and PG wanted to impress the congregation with his “sacrificial” pledge of 9 months of his salary towards the CCC building fund. In an unashamed display of haughtiness, he took an alabaster jar and broke it to symbolize his “sacrificial” giving, trying to replicate the sacrificial act of the woman in the Bible who broke her alabaster jar of expensive perfume and poured it on Jesus’ head.

Many in the crowd in the stadium applauded PG’s act of sacrifice but little did they realize that his sacrifice of 9 months of salary will not affect him much. His dear wife, Sis Petrina was still drawing a big monthly salary of RM10,000 which is more than what senior pastors in other similar-size churches earn. For two persons, this amount of salary is more than adequate to live on, considering that they have no financial commitments and their cars’ petrol and maintenance costs are all taken care of by the Church. There are many members who feed their families and pay their housing and car loans and everything else on much less income.

What the members also do not know was what took place subsequently in the Church office. Because PG sacrificed his salary for 9 months, the Church staff were encouraged to buy lunch for him as often as they could!

Towards the end of that year, the Board of Deacons, in “recognition of PG’s great sacrifice” took a special Christmas love offering from the congregation to bless him. And like a big hero, PG “humbly” accepted it and immediately announced that he is giving the entire love offering to CCC. The entire episode is worthy of a grammy award.

Now, with that background story and in the light of the latest fund-raising campaign, many Calvarites are watching to see what “sacrificial” advance PG will be giving this time.

Clip 1 : Ask and ask big

At the combined services in Sime Darby Convention Centre two Sundays ago, PG announced that his CCC committee members and the Deacons have made advances totaling RM3 million to the CCC. While this may appear to be a large amount, we must take cognizance of the fact that several of the committee members and deacons are millionaires with a few owning fairly large multi-million dollar businesses. Therefore, RM3 million advances from this group is commendable but nothing to shout about. However, the interesting thing to note about this announcement is that PG, himself a millionaire, did not state whether he made any advance and if he did, how much.

Clip 2 : Tremendous sacrifice (?)

The fact that PG is a millionaire is undeniable. His local properties alone are worth at least RM6 to 7 million. The value of his local assets can be easily quantified. His present 3-storey semi-detached house in Bangsar is worth RM4 to 5 million. His Taman Tun house where his daughter, Pam was living in, has just been sold for RM1.2 million. Another house in Bangsar where his son, Jim lives, also belongs to him and this is worth easily RM1.2 to 1.5 million. He is said to own other properties besides the above.

The value of his overseas properties is not known. The amount of money he has in his local as well as overseas bank accounts is also unknown. Since he has never declared to the Church the love offerings he has received, there is, therefore, no way to ascertain the amount of wealth he has amassed overseas.

When Pas Robert Lim of Singapore came to preach just two services in Calvary Church on one Sunday in 2003, the Church gave him a love gift of S$10,000 (read the CT article on 3 April 2009). If we use this as a benchmark, the amount of love offerings that PG would have received over the last 40 years from his overseas preaching engagements, can be fairly substantial.

The deacons have mentioned before that his personal ministry, Calvary International Ministries (CIM) also has bank accounts in Singapore and USA but we have no way of verifying the bank balances there. Nevertheless, it is safe to estimate PG’s total wealth to be in the region of at least RM10 million. Bearing in mind that he has no known borrowings, he is certainly a very rich man.

It is therefore, of great interest to members to know how much advance he has pledged or made to the CCC project this time. After all, he is the Senior Pastor and the CCC is his vision and it is only appropriate that he leads by example.

The amount of advance he commits to the CCC compared to his wealth will be a good yardstick for the ordinary members to follow if they believe in his vision and want to participate in this “Give an Advance” campaign.

The big question on everyone’s lips is how much is PG advancing to the CCC. Is it RM1 million, RM2 million, RM3 million or more?

So Prince Guneratnam, can you answer our BIG QUESTION, please?

******************************************************
We thank our reader who used the pseudonym "Discovery Channel" for these photos of the November-December 1993 issue of Calvary News. This article written back in 1993 welcoming Pam G and her husband and daughter back to Malaysia after being away for 7 to 8 years in the USA for studies is proof of PG's wealth even back then.

It takes a very rich man to be able to afford to support a daughter's overseas studies for 7 to 8 years. In PG's case, he not only need to finance his daughter's study and living expenses, he also had to finance the bringing up of a granddaughter, who spent the first 4 years of her life in the USA. To top this, his son Jim was also studying in the USA about the same time.

As we recall, PG and wife also took one year sabbatical leave to be with his children and granddaughter in the USA. Of course, the members were told that he was there to do a Masters degree.  Now, this is indeed the lifestyle of the rich.

Is PG a Narcissist?

Someone highlighted to CT this enlightening online article, “Narcissism in the Pulpit” by Grant Swanson of Power2Serve Ministries, which could help us understand what is going on in CC. We have extracted some note worthy statements from the article which is relevant to us in CC, with Bro Grant's permission. Please go to his ministry website for the full Article.

“Generally most church conflict is caused by carnality, selfishness and ambition (1 Cor 3:3)., Combine these sinful behaviors with an antagonist or two and you can have serious conflict problems as we have discussed earlier. Add selfish ambition to these characteristic in the Senior Pastor and spiritual abuse can be meted out in sinful, and destructive ways.”
This is a must-read article because "When you enter the web of the Narcissist, you leave yourself behind." This could explain the total compliance of our associate pastors, deacons and other leaders. “Hopefully by the time you have finished reading the information within this chapter you should be able to have a clear understanding as to whether or not the problems you are experiencing with your pastor are being caused by Narcissistic Personality Disorder.”

Who is a Narcissist?

"The overall definition of someone with a narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by a combination of severe limitations in understanding other people and their feelings, as well as an excessive pursuit of what are called narcissistic supplies, such as admiration, attention, status, understanding, support, money, power, control, or perfection in some form. While all of us need these supplies in adequate amounts to feel a sense of well being, the narcissist pursues them with an unrelenting desperation and a keen ability to manipulate others. Meanwhile the outer persona of the NPD individual is generally one of confidence and control, alongside a smooth or charming demeanor. As your involvement with the narcissist develops you will notice that the relationship increasingly becomes one-way with you in the primary giving position."
“It is close to impossible (to immediately recognize a narcissist) and that is the secret of their astounding success. Narcissists are good actors. They are adept at charming others, persuading them, manipulating them, or otherwise influencing them to do their bidding.”

The Danger of a Narcissist

"Realize that a narcissistic pastor is a very real danger both to himself and to the church life. According to Dattner Consulting LLC if the NPD pastor is able to accumulate too much power and prestige, and if others in the church are not able to moderate the narcissist’s destructive impulses, success can soon lead to failure. In the narcissists quest to maintain and promote their fragile self-esteem, the NPD pastor can often ignore or deny reality when it presents itself. They will also exploit the organization in order to attain their own goals. Grandiosity can lead to too much risk taking, and fear of failure can at other times lead to too little risk. With this in mind it becomes necessary to establish appropriate boundaries around the areas of finance, relational power over other staff, the board and other leaders appointed by the congregation. Unfortunately fear is the main deterrent to the narcissist—fear of losing his reputation, and fear of consequences which are clearly delineated and carried out when necessary."

The other sections are:
1. How to Identify a Narcissist. This is recommended for church members to read.
2. How to Survive In Relationship with a Narcissist. This is very important for those working with PG especially the associate pastors and the church workers.
3. Around the Board Table. This is especially important for the deacons to read.

Is PG a narcissist?Go to the link below and complete the check list and you will know.
http://www.power2serve.net/Narcissism%20Checklist.htm
We list here a sample of the symptoms of a Narcissist.
Does PG have any of these symptoms?

1. Self-centered. His needs are paramount and take precedence over the church.
2. No remorse for mistakes or misdeeds. Will not offer heartfelt apologies or ask forgiveness.
3. Projects his faults on to others. High blaming behavior; never his fault.
4. Insensitive to needs and feelings of others
5. Has a good front (persona) to impress and exploit others
6. Rationalizes easily. Twists conversation to his gain at other’s expense. If trapped, keeps talking, changes the subject or gets angry
7. Pathological lying. Will lie if he thinks it will further his image and if he doesn’t think it will be discovered. When lies are followed up on will imply that the other person is mistaken, and that he never said the lie in the first place
8. Often perceived as caring and understanding and uses this to manipulate
9. Secret life. Hides money, friends, activities
10. Seldom expresses appreciation unless he is buttering the person up for further use
11. He announces, not discusses. He tells, not asks
12. Controls money of others but spends freely on himself
13. Very good at reading people, so he can manipulate them
14. Will exaggerate and brag about past accomplishments
15. Will be overly concerned with the ‘image’ of the church building/bulletins etc.

PG And Wife Continues To Deceive???

Pastor Prince Guneratnam (PG) is scheduled to preach at Evangel Family Church (EFC) in Singapore on 8 November 2009.

EFC is the home church of his good buddy, Rev Robert Lim. EFC is the generous church which PG had claimed gave him a brand new Volvo XC90 4WD and Sis Petrina Guneratnam, a new Honda Civic a few years ago. Whether this is true or false, no one knows? It is inconceivable that EFC will give such generous gifts to PG and his wife especially since Rev Robert is well-known for his sacrificial giving to church planting and actual missions work while denying himself of such luxuries. We hope that someone from EFC will enlighten us on this mystery.

Coming back to the subject in hand, EFC published an online advertisement on PG’s coming preaching engagement. Click on the following link to see the advertisement:
http://www.evangel.org.sg/advertisem/prince/prince.html

If you read through the write-up on the credentials of PG and Sis Petrina, you will be shocked that they are both still proclaiming (by implication) that Calvary International Ministries (CIM) is still alive.

The write-up states that “ Prince Guneratnam is also the President and Founder of Calvary International Ministries.”

The write-up on Sis Petrina Guneratnam states that “She is also the co-founder and Vice President of the Calvary International Ministries.”

CT does not think that EFC would publish this without getting the clearance from PG. It is more likely that EFC was given this write-up to publish.

If this was the case, PG and his wife are certainly a recalcitrant couple, still bent on misleading fellow Christian brothers and sisters and his own peers.

For those unfamiliar with the background, CIM was the personal ministry of PG. CIM became a major issue among Calvary Church members when it was discovered last year that the Board of Deacons and the Missions Department, both headed by PG, had transferred a total of RM1.9m from church coffers into CIM’s account between 2002 to 2007, without the knowledge or approval of the church members.

The FACT is that CIM has been de-registered by NECF last year because it does not qualify to be a member. CIM had originally been registered as a member of NECF as a result of misrepresentation by PG. After the exposure by concerned members of Calvary Church, CIM was removed from the membership register of NECF. The misrepresentation has also been confirmed by the Assemblies of God Malaysia after conducting their own investigations. CIM, therefore, no longer exists as a Christian body.
CIM’s bank accounts in Malaysia are believed to have been cancelled after the de-registration of CIM by NECF but no one knows if its banks accounts in Singapore or US or elsewhere are still existing. Presumably, they still are.

CT does not know the reason behind PG’s “wanting to keep CIM alive”. One can only speculate that CIM is where all the love offerings which PG receives from his preaching engagements and all donations to his ministry are channeled to.

With “Calvary” in its name, none of the churches and pastors out there can be faulted if they thought that CIM was part of Calvary Church when actually it is not. Therefore, any donation meant for Calvary Church could have been addressed to and channeled into CIM’s bank account/s in Singapore or elsewhere and no one would even be aware of it.

Calvarites have often wondered why, after all these years of our Church giving to the building funds of other churches, none of the overseas churches (except for EFC and Cho Yonggi’s church) have made contributions to our CCC building fund. Perhaps, the answer lies in CIM.
On the topic of deception, another interesting thing to note is that in his wife, Sis Petrina’s write-up, it was stated that she “pioneered the first Assemblies of God church, the Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Klang, Malaysia”.
Perhaps it was a genuine grammatical error in the way the statement was structured but it does give an impression that she started the first Assemblies of God church in Malaysia and that that church was the Glad Tidings in Klang. For the benefit of readers, the first Assemblies of God church in Malaysia was in Jalan Sayur, Kuala Lumpur and she certainly was not the one who started it in 1934 as she was not born yet.
You can read the History of the Assemblies of God church in Malaysia at :

So, dear Pastor Prince Guneratnam, what are you up to now?

PG Chickens Out!

In a last-ditch mediation effort, a prominent Calvarite together with the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Malaysia, made arrangements to bring representatives from the concerned members or the TTG group (as it is more popularly known) and Pas Prince Guneratnam (PG) and his team together to discuss how to resolve the ongoing saga in Calvary Church.

Parameters for the meeting from both sides were given to the two mediators who then came out with a harmonized set of parameters for the meeting. The date of the meeting, which was to be held in the hotel of the said Calvarite, was mutually agreed upon and set for this Thursday, 29th October.

The proposed meeting was to be attended by 4 representatives from the TTG group and 4 from the Church leadership including PG. The Chairmen would be the 2 mediators. Another 3 council members from the Assemblies of God Malaysia were expected to attend as observers.

Admittedly, the concerned members were pleasantly surprised that PG finally agreed to meet with the concerned members to seek an amicable solution to the many issues in our Church.

The members had renewed hope that there will be a positive outcome to this meeting so that everyone can return to Calvary Church to rebuild the Church and to move forward.

Sadly, this hope was dashed today (Tuesday). PG has decided not to proceed with the much anticipated meeting. He came out with a flimsy excuse that his deacons cannot make it. This is akin to saying that out of his 7 deacons and 8 pastors, he could not get 3 of them to join him.

If indeed this was true, then all the deacons and pastors ought to be sacked. Just a few months ago, they spent many evenings holding small group ceramahs to defend PG and to justify their sacking of Dr Lum for speaking the truth. (Click the link to read SP and BOD Divides Church Further).

Now they cannot even spend one evening to try to save a dying Church. If this is the real situation, then the Pastors ought to re-examine their calling seriously and the deacons should give way to others who have a heart for the welfare of the church.

Furthermore, if it is really true that none of the deacons and pastors can accompany PG to the meeting, let it be known that even if he came alone, he would have gotten the respect of the TTG (and the entire Church) for keeping the appointment.

If, however, the above is not true, then PG is outright lying.

The concerned members had, time and again in the past, initiated steps to seek legal redress, only to hold back each time, always, in the hope that PG will come to his senses and agree to resolve the issues in an amicable way. In a final attempt, the group recently, issued a letter through a lawyer to PG to request him to re-convene an EGM to re-consider the resolutions which were thrown out by Rev Ronnie Chin at the last AGM. PG promptly replied that he cannot accede to the members’ request. In his reply he said,

“I humbly implore upon your goodselves to advise your clients (concerned members) that the Deacons and I are ever ready and willing to discuss any concern that they (concerned members) may have in respect of the Church.”
So, after all that rhetoric about wanting to resolve the ongoing saga in Calvary Church the Christian way and about his ever willingness to meet the concerned members, Pastor Prince Guneratnam has once again proven that he is not a man of his words.

This is just real sad!

Reasons why PG will not repent

This was an e-mail we received from a Concerned Calvarite who is not known personally by the CT & BC administrators. We received this brief reply when we wrote in for permission to publish.
"O.k, go ahead...I discovered the blog Calvary Today only recently about few months ago, and i felt like Elijah knowing that there are 500 other faithful prophets hiding in the caves. It bring relief and comfort that i am not alone. I am not the only one who see what i saw in Calvary Church. I heard rumours that people left Calvary Church but i do not know them or who. Some of my friends are still there who very much support PG, but others are no more. i think we lost contact somehow : ( "

subject : Reasons why PG will not repent

Reasons why PG will not repent.

1. He still have multitude of supporters locally and worldwide
While many support Truth, Transparency and Godly church governance, many still support the lordship of PG. Many in church still give to his dynasty. Offering bags can still be heavy. The wayward spending of the senior executive pastor on gym and other luxury facilities are ongoing. His Judas hand over the church account continue. Even churches of his good friends are still contributing fund for his endeavor. Why people still support him?
a) People believe pastor is always correct.
People evaluate on the basis of position. This is true in the world and sadly true in churches too. People see status, not hear reasoning. This happen because Christian in church today are merely taught to obey, not evaluate. The Berean heart is almost extinct in many churches today. We live in a trend of success orientation. Whoever has status, whichever side has more number or whoever more successful will be looked as correct. People look at the appearance more than the matter. People have a general assumption that pastor, called by God for His service is always right. Everyone who support him is indirectly feeding to his arrogant and pride and thus stopping him from repenting. If we love our pastors, we would want them to repent and be restored.

b) Calvarites were too proud of the church institution
Many Calvarites are too proud of church institution that they often distinguish themselves from Christians from other churches solely on the basis of church institution. Such pride create an unhealthy sense of belonging that stir competition among churches. This spirit many times are seem to be intentional stirred by the leaders and pastors in church. Such is seen not just in Calvary church but also in many AOG churches today.

Today many churches tend to have a cold war among themselves with a secret vision of which churches has the largest building, the most beautiful building, jump the highest, shout the loudest, live the most liberal, get most recognition from foreign churches, has the most number of congregation, or which pastor is more popular. Because of such institution pride, many Calvarites tend to ignore the sin of senior executive pastor(PG). To many, they rather have success although in mere appearance, than to have real truth but loosing the chances to boast over other churches. The pride that allow them to boast as member of the biggest and wealthiest church that often has event in stadium and luxury places, own great number of property with the most beautiful building, and church that is recognized by many foreign churches is too tempting, that they would rather ignore righteousness for it. They rather save face than to face truth. This is much so for those who serve as leader. Due to such institution pride, it is a predicted response that they will support CCC, a glamorous monument exalted like tower of Babel that dominate and minimize all other churches in size, luxury and architectural beauty – a license to boast over all and make doctrine that none dare to confront.

Calvary Today does not cause division. Division is just a product of what actually happen. But there is good in this division, to my opinion that the Lord has allowed it to happen – that is that Calvarites can finally learn to be humble. We finally came to realize that we are actually “Christian” just like others, not “Calvarite” as we used to think. Church institution is just a shell. Wealth and glamour do not distinguish us from the rest. We are as weak as other Christians in Malaysia.

c) People tend to pretend to be peacemakers
Not everyone are like those in Calvary Today who are willing to scar their face to go against evil. Many would rather be peacemaker, a “neutral” side where its end is easy to be accepted, no matter what is the outcome. This is the “free thinker” of Christianity. Their motto is like the Chinese say, “If many matters, why not rather less matters; and if less matters, why not no matter at all?”. Rather than righteousness and justice, they see peace merely as zero matter or activities. These are the people who strike for peace at all cost, even to compromise evil; not knowing that division is not the source, it is actually the product of conflict.

We cannot remove the result of something without remove that very thing. We cannot eliminate the product of a problem without dealing with the source of the problem. People try to remove product of the problem by not producing the product of the problem, that is by ignoring the problem itself, although the problem did exist. This is irresponsible, as we Christians are not called tent of thieves but watch tower and light of the world. Jesus said, “I did not come to bring peace, but a sword” (Matt 10:34). Many times, it is easier to be peacemaker (of artificial peace) than to fight for real peace. But we are not in a game.

The outcome of every wars that we fight will affect us. It could means that the loser may be called heresy, banished from church community, punished under some sort of church ISA, or even labeled as cult. Because of such fear, many would rather not openly against the dictatorship of senior pastor. They would rather play peacemaker, a neutral party, that call for blind forgiveness (means compromise), have faith in pastor (means just do what you are told), and everything will be alright (means be ignorance). These peacemakers are tend to stand for chief senior pastor, since whoever do not disagree with his wayward spending is for him.

d) People are in ignoranceWhen there is strife and dispute, what is actually happening and where do we get reliable information? Since no pastor support TT&G and all associate pastors support PG, the only voice for TT&G is through websites and spread word of mouth from individual to individual. There is no pastor stand on stage to preach for truth and transparency or against church finance secrecy and deception. Not everyone serve internet and if they do, they may not find CalvaryToday or Berita Calvary. He may not know anyone who support TT&G, so he remain unaware of the truth, whereas there is much can be done by PG to justify himself. He can preach on stage heard by many, manipulate Bible verses to justify himself or criticize those oppose him.

His link and relationship with other pastors whether local or foreign is also a privilege for him to explain situation away, the way he want it to be, and those who heard from him does not verify the info from the congregation. Not every pastors from other churches who support him do so merely because of their good friend relationship with him. Many do not really know what actually happen in Calvary Church today. People are in ignorance, not knowing what is actually happenning and believe whatever has been told to them. Their only source of info is from pastor himself. They hear from one side without hearing from the other.

Perhaps people are being explained that the situation in Calvary church is just a faith measurement issue, where SP has high faith, so high that he has no worry spending church money waywardly because he has faith that he will not fail; whereas those who oppose him have low faith, fearing that the church will bankrupt due to wasting just a couple of millions ringgit.

People may be told that it is just a over-worry issue, a misunderstanding between two parties of different faith level. Perhaps that is why some pastors still support him, and even help him to preach to his congregation the impression they get from SP. They thought it is just a lack of faith issue, a miscommunication problem, where the congregation could not cope with SP’s faith level. So just preach faith and it will solve the problem. Preach to the people not to worry, just trust and the problem will be solved, so they think.

Others may be told that it is just a feeling issue. It may be told that some people simply over sensitive at what SP is saying and offended by it. So just preach forgiveness and it will solve the problem. This is the impression given. We see reaction from some pastors that reflect that they have such impression. It’s explained as though as it is another miscommunication problem, where there is no one right or wrong, just a misunderstanding. This is so that other churches or foreign Christian community do not think Calvary Church has a serious problem. But we do have a serious problem, so serious that if it prolongs, the negative impact and the solution required can grow too big, so much so that even if SP and his whole family would step down, it does not improve the situation.

Is the problem merely an issue of lack of faith (worry) or someone offended (feeling issues) ? No. If senior pastor would apologize yet continue to be who he is, it does not solve the problem. If the congregation would simply trust and silent its voice, it does not solve the problem. The problem is not relative, but absolute. Repentance is called for and is necessary. It ought to be seen in real action, not merely in show acting..

2. He is well established in status and ministry
It is easy to criticize a nobody, but if you criticize someone of great wealth and high position in society, you better have a reason worth sacrificing yourself. PG has a title Tan Sri and Dr (I think mean he obtain a PhD). All these were not casually comes. It is intentionally, it is priority (contradict to this year theme). All these are possible because he is careful to ensure every project, every activities, every money or effort spent by the church were spent to gain honor and polish that reputation of his.

He don’t mind giving church money to other church, because he will be known for such charity. But he will not give to a needy beggars in the street, because such has no benefit to his career. He don’t mind adopting a village when the government require because all such effort will add to his credit to achieve Tan Sri, but to speak against injustice in this land, he would rather not. You see, everything that he plan for the church, he ensure that he has benefited, although he claim they are doing for God.

As the result of all these years of church effort in all these planned events, projects and activities, we see PG has gain much power, wealth and fame. He has title, he has wealth and he has great influence among churches in AOG and even other denominations. Thanks to all the sincere effort of our serving, a monster is born. Special thanks also to all the pastors and leaders who throughout the years have constantly polish his shoe and pampering his arrogant, quoting, “Senior Pastor say that, senior pastor say this”, a haughty prince emerged.
With the fame, wealth and power both among Christian community and the world, it is not surprising that he is reluctant to repent despite much reasoning. After all, what can people do to him? He has the authority with him. With our money, he has impressed many churches through giving and winning their heart of support. With his profession as pastor and once a superintendent of AOG, he has clothed himself with immunity against protest. It is very diffcult for leaders of other churches to go against him. It is like a ministry suicide, because of his influence among the pastor network. People would rather be quiet and step aside. This Tan Sri’s dependence on status, fame and wealth has made him greed so much, will he give up now? Who can really shake him? Or so he thinks.

3. He knows the weakness of men
The SP knows the weakness of men as do our enemy. In a long term dispute, the weak will tend to faint, give up and either disappear or join the other side. It does not matter if we stop giving, it does not matter if we jump into a lake either. If he can build CCC with wide hall and beautiful architectural, people will go to church and tend to forget his sin. If many attend CCC, impressed by the beauty of it, and satisfy with the thrive of having a wide worship hall, it does not matter to him how many jump into the lake. The new numerous members will replace those who had jumped into the lake. All that is matter to him is number, as such indicates power and fame. When many who are impressed by the structures of CCC begin to support him, attend church and start giving to PG so that they could claim a sense of ownership of CCC, and the number grow again, then the prince will has every reasons to claim as king. He can preach as though as Calvary Today is wrong, and that every picture he falsely paint to the public is then “proven” correct.

We humans are weak in many ways. We tend to see success in wealth or numeric as a justification of oneself. If PG would just silent the protest now until CCC is built and the number recovered (including the money, of course), there is no need then for him to repent. He can even prove that he is right thus far. You see, he who had carefully done everything merely for the sake of fame and wealth is cunning. From Calvary land to the project of adopt a village, everything were done for himself. Although done by people in church, it is claimed for his own credit. He who climbed to be Tan Sri and chased for every ministry awards, is crafty enough to know the weakness of men. He knows what normal people will fall into. Calvary Today is dealing with an usual men who throughout the years has carefully ensured that everything the church has done will eventually feed himself with power, fame and wealth. He who has established himself and his fortress through your sincere hard labor, is not naïve. And he think he can again escape.

4. He loves his comfortable & luxury life more than the sheep
He who loves his life with all that is with it, will he has compassion or even has consideration on you? No. Appeal does no difference. So is reasoning. It is not that the point is confused, it is purposefully refused. No matter what truth or how transparent it is desired, it will not be entertained. It is intentional, not accidental rejected. No passive action will prevail. Don’t hope to receive compassion, don’t hope to be pitied. For the ambassador of mammon know no pity, clothed no compassion and gives no consideration to the hurt. He who love wealth and fame will hold to the position where he can simply put his Judas’ hand into the account when ever and however he wanted.

Will he step down to save your faith in God? No. Will he repent and accept godly governance? No. Money and fame had lifted him up, money and fame is what he will hold onto. He will rather plunder wealth from the church than to merely give it up, unless one day it runs dry. God’s kingdom is not His priority, it is his propaganda. Therefore, do not jump into the lake as he instructed, he will not have pity on you because the sheep is not his priority either. They are just number to him, an asset of fame and a source of income.

Having to mention this, it is appropriate that Calvary Today help those who have left to other churches. It is not known if they are accepted as normal or being seen as Christians who “jump church”.
a) Calvary Today ought to bring awareness that not all who jump church are bad Christians. In fact, many who did have a valid and godly reasons.

b) Calvary Today ought to help those who left to other church to continue to walk with God without haunted by the hurt of the present Calvary situation. They ought to learn to move on, learning from the past hurt but not carrying it along.

I remember many years ago, when a brother in my office’s fellowship express the membership scandal in Calvary Church (that is long before Calvary Today exist), a sister who is a visitor to our fellowship begin to express the jump church scenario that she faced. She told us that she jumped church because of some church leadership problem. At first, she seem like just wish to be quiet in the fellowship, giving no comment. But when the brother express such dissatisfaction, she can’t help but to tell her experience and hurt. She can express such because it is a small fellowship and thank God the believers in the fellowship understand her.

We ought to be sensitive to those who are hurting. Many are victims of church leadership, jump to other church, but afraid to tell of the problem they face in previous church because of fear that the Christian community (which many are church orientated and prosperity gospel influenced) would criticize them just because they jump church, without finding out why.

c) Calvary Today should not just look to bring PG down, but also to lift those who are hurt by him. Do not expect CLM under Pam G would play such a role. CLM would rather address homosexuality, a relatively irrelevant issue in Malaysia than to address many major direct hot issues in Malaysia; because in my opinion, it may be established to impress foreign church community only, not really wish to minister to people.

There are so many issues in the past few years that happened in our Malaysian community as well as in Christian community that ought to be addressed. Sadly, Christian leaders seem to be ignorant, with few merely focus on collecting money for church building. There is no one would care for those church jumpers now other than Calvary Today. This ministry is presumed on you because only you know and can care.
